As part of its plan to develop Al-Malam locality and transition from recovery to a comprehensive development plan, MDPD has allocated a significant amount of support from the King Abdullah  Humanitarian Foundation to develop the education sector. The first phase of the project includes the construction of 15 primary schools, along with 15 middle schools and 19 high secondary schools, located in the villages of Malam, Keila, Turbah and Um Dasho, as well as the maintenance of a number of old schools and the construction of a school printing press in the city of Nyala, capital of South Darfur state. The building of schools in the villages of Abu Hamra, and Yara in Mersheng locality, will be in the second phase of the project.

All the first phase schools will be implemented in the villages of voluntary return in the locality of Al-Malam, as part of MDPD’s plan, which aims to transform these villages into modern small urban areas.
