On Thursday, November 27, 2025, in response to the urgent need for food in the displaced communities of Darfur, Malam Darfur Peace and Development MDPD, with financial support from AVAAZ, successfully delivered food baskets to 600 families who have been displaced to the town of Kurma, located north of Al-Fasher.

The MDPD continues its efforts to deliver humanitarian assistance and is also working to provide shelter materials that the displaced people desperately need, especially with in this winter season.

Recently, Kurma has welcomed around 38,000 displaced individuals who had been living in Nevasha, Abu Shouk, and Abuga camps, along with others who fled from various areas of Al-Fasher. Unfortunately, they have not received any food assistance since arriving in the city at the end of October after RSF took control of Al-Fasher.

It’s worth to mention that Kurma had already been hosting more than 34,000 displaced individuals before the takeover of Al-Fasher by RSF, bringing the total number of displaced people in need of urgent assistance in food, medicine, and shelter to nearly 65,000.
