Malam Darfur Peace and Development Kitchen has begun providing meals in four displacement centers in Neyala, the capital of South Darfur, including IDP’s from Al Fasher and Khartoum.

On January 16, 2026, as part of its humanitarian operations funded by AVAAZ, Malam Darfur Peace and Development Kitchen started offering enhanced food meals in four of the largest displacement centers in Neyala.

The first meal was served at the Al Hamira High School center, which accommodates 562 displaced families from Al Fasher, Zamzam camp, and various villages like Gooz Baina and Tabit, alongside others from North Darfur and displaced individuals from Khartoum.

Notably, 75% of the residents are women and children, while men make up 25%. The center has also been supplied with clean drinking water.

Interestingly, food supplies to the displacement centers in Neyala had ceased since the beginning of 2026 due to a lack of funding, which exposed the displaced individuals to severe food and drinking water shortages.

Malam Darfur Peace and Development Kitchen aims to continue providing these meals to fill the nutritional gap in the centers and plans to deliver daily iftar meals during Ramadan, which will start in the second half of February 2026.
