A strong bond has grown between MDPD community kitchen and the people it serves, especially residents of Abu Shouk. Many community members have stepped forward as volunteers, making the kitchen feel like a shared initiative, one that truly belongs to them. This sense of ownership has strengthened both the service provided and its impact on those who rely on it most.
During the first week of April, the number of people coming to the kitchen increased rapidly, reflecting the growing level of need across the city.
On April 8, 2026, the kitchen provided daily meals to more than 3,850 people.
