Amid a significant rise in the number of families in need, Malam Darfur Peace and Development (MDPD) food convoy distributed 1,200 food baskets to an equal number of families in Al Fasher

Despite MDPD’s regular weekly food convoys to the city and its consistent distribution to 1,200 families, MDPD is facing a major challenge in meeting the growing demand. On April 22, 2026, the organization distributed food baskets to 1,200 families, sufficient for at least two weeks. However, it was surprised to see that more than 4,000 families gathered at distribution points across different areas, reflecting the steady increase in the city’s population and, consequently, the number of people in need.
At the same time, the MDPD continues to provide daily food support through two community kitchens, serving over 7,000 people each day.
The continued population growth and the rising need for food underline the importance of sustaining and expanding these services to meet at least the minimum needs of the population.
In this context, one of the beneficiaries called for the launch of income-generating projects, an important suggestion that could help families become more self-reliant and reduce their dependence on humanitarian aid.
On April 22, 2026, MDPD distributed 1,200 food baskets across Al-Nil, Al-Nakhil, and Al-Nasr neighborhoods, in addition to the Naivasha IDP camp.
