Through our daily engagement with the urgent needs of people in Al Fasher, the resilience of its residents in the face of immense challenges, the hopes of children for a better tomorrow, the dedication of more than 40 women volunteers, and the continued effort to provide thousands of meals each day to those in need, a truly unique bond has been built — and continues to grow — between Malam Darfur Peace and Development (MDPD) and the people of Al Fasher.
For nearly six months, providing food assistance to the city’s residents has been at the heart of this connection. Yet the hopes and aspirations of the people inspire us to look toward the next phase: early recovery. This includes supporting access to clean drinking water, rehabilitating schools and health service centers, and creating livelihood and income-generating opportunities for local entrepreneurs and community members.
These are the needs we hear about from people every single day, and we sincerely hope we will be able to help make them a reality.
On May 19, 2026, the Abu Shouk Community Kitchen provided daily meals to more than 5,000 people, while the mobile community kitchen served daily meals to more than 1,500 people from Al-Shakreen neighborhood, in addition to beneficiaries from four neighboring communities.
