In Uganda, home to one of the largest Sudanese refugee camps, the need for food and all forms of humanitarian support continues to grow. As part of its ongoing humanitarian response to the Sudanese refugee community, which began in December 2025,and in response to the increased need for meals during the holy month of Ramadan, MDPD launched a weekly Ramadan iftar program at Kiryandongo refugee camp.
On Friday, February 27, 2026 “, the 10th of Ramadan, MDPD kitchen provided iftar meals to more than 1,500 fasting residents of the camp.
The initiative has been warmly welcomed by the camp community. Many residents volunteer in preparing and serving the meals, and the kitchen has become an important center for community connection and engagement within the camp.
