Since the start of our efforts to respond to the urgent food needs in various areas in Darfur, Malam Darfur Peace and Development (MDPD) team has successfully delivered food assistance to East Gabal Marra for the first time.
On December 18, 2025, and again on January 1, 2026, MDPD dispatched two food convoys to Katoor area in East Gabal Marra, helping 5,561 displaced individuals from various camps from Al Fasher, including Abu Shouk, Abuga, and Zamzam, as well as several residents of Al Fasher. We were able to distribute food assistance to 900 families in Katoor area and 300 families in the neighboring Dobo.
Despite the significant number of displaced persons, Katoor had not received food assistance since the war in Sudan began in April 2023. We hope to continue supporting these communities in their time of need.
