The animal wealth in the state is estimated at (15,000,000) head as it constitutes a paramount livelihood source for plenty of population.
The state possesses very rich and vast natural ranges due to its variable climate that assisted in producing different types of vegetation.
Animal production sector also helps in securing funds for South Darfur State along with availing jobs to population working in this sector.
Malam Darfur Peace and Development has developed a plan to maintain and develop animal production, including Building a veterinary hospital, Development of meat industry Milk, cheese, and leather Production.
