Due to its strategic geographical location as a border point between South Darfur and North Darfur, Al-Malam locality has become a refuge for many displaced individuals fleeing from Al-Fasher, Shangil Tobaya, Zamzam camp and Tawilah.
As part of its plan to provide food assistance to 700 needy families in the locality, MDPD distributed food baskets on February 9, 2026, to residents and displaced persons in Abu Geldi, Um Al-Qura, and Al-Salam neighborhood in Al-Malam locality, South Darfur.
