On February 24, 2026, as part of its ongoing food basket distribution program for returnees and displaced families in the northern localities of South Darfur State, Malam Darfur Peace and Development provided food baskets to 1,000 households in Um Fozain Camp — the largest IDP camp in Mershing locality — as well as in Tonkter Camp.
These two camps host displaced families from Kila and several other villages in Al-Malam locality who were displaced during the Darfur conflict in 2003.
