Malam Darfur Peace and Development (MDPD) Bringing Food Aid to Kalma Camp for Displaced Persons in Neyala City

MDPD continues its efforts to support displaced individuals across various states and localities in Darfur region.

On January 7, 2026, with generous support from AVAAZ, our team distributed food aids to 500 families in Zero Center Camp located in Belail locality of South Darfur.

In addition to those displaced from different areas of Darfur, the camp also hosts approximately 2,700 families of refugees from South Sudan. Some of these families have been living in the camp for over 20 years.

The number of refugees has risen due to recent conflicts that followed South Sudan’s independence, and many families are still seeking refuge due to ongoing conflicts in South Sudan.

We focused our food distribution efforts on vulnerable families and individuals with disabilities, as the camp is facing a significant shortage of food resources.

Access to the area has become challenging due to road closures and the security situation.
