On January 13, 2026, with generous support from AVAAZ, we continued our mission to deliver much-needed food aid to the displaced individuals in Kalma camp, which is home to over 350,000 families.

This time, we distributed food baskets to 1,000 families in center one of the camp, which accommodates around 11,800 families in total, including many individuals with special needs, widows, and orphans.

Kalma camp, established in the aftermath of the Darfur war in 2003, consists of 14 sectors and houses displaced persons from all over Darfur state.

Sadly, food supplies to the camp had been interrupted due to the ongoing conflict, making it difficult for UN agencies and international organizations to access those in need. Additionally, local grain production has declined due to security challenges.

Recently, we’ve begun to see some shipments arrive from the World Food Program (WFP), but they are still insufficient compared to the number of displaced individuals in the camp, and the quantities provided for each family are not enough.
