As MDPD kitchen staff move between the displacement camps and neighborhoods in Al Fasher to provide daily meals to the city’s residents, the Kitchen has become a large, welcoming hub that brings together the diverse community of Al Fasher, primarily consisting of women and children. Women actively collaborate with men in meal preparation, turning this work into a social forum where people connect and express their hopes for the continuation of this support, particularly regarding clean drinking water, health services, and education.
On February 16, 2026, MDPD Kitchen served a second meal to the residents of Al Salam Abuga Camp in Al Fasher. It was noted that the majority of beneficiaries were children, followed by women, with men represented in smaller numbers.
